Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Learning and Development is responsible for executing learning and development programs to enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of our employees. This role supports the goal of developing the human capital of the organization. Responsibilities include instructional design, assessing departmental needs, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of programs, and facilitating the professional development and continuous learning of employees.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

Leads and executes comprehensive learning and development programs to enhance employee growth. Provides overall strategic direction and long-term planning to ensure the achievement of the medical center's goals and objectives. Models and incorporates BMC's Mission, Vision and Values in development initiatives that support the strategic business objectives of the Health System.

  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify learning objectives, determine learning content, and evaluate effective deliver methods
  • Utilizes instructional design practices and adult learning principles to create interactive and impactful learning experiences
  • Supports the implementation of orientation programs to ensure smooth integration into BMCHS' company and culture
  • Assists with developing career paths and succession planning strategies to support employee growth and retention
  • Designs, develops, and delivers training programs that build leadership, technical, and soft skills
  • Champions a positive and inclusive culture that reflects BMCHS' values and aligns with our Culture Code
  • Evaluates and updates current programs, including annual compliance topics, to align with current state of the business and ensures content is current
  • Collaborates with HRBP team and department leaders to identify development needs and support employee growth
  • Partners with Learning and Development colleagues to support and manage the employee performance review process
  • Leverages technology and e-learning platforms to deliver engaging learning experiences
  • Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and align learning initiatives with organizational objectives
  • Collaborates with external partners, vendors, and educational institutions to enhance BMC's learning offerings
  • In partnership with the HRIS team, provides technical support and oversight of the Workday LMS system
  • Provide leadership role in the development, implementation, and roll-out of LMS innovations.
  • Understand emerging business plans, determine organizational implications and provide appropriate recommendations and actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development or related field required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

EXPERIENCE:

Five or more years of experience in Learning and Development, Organizational Development, or related field. Experience in healthcare industry preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong strategic planning and diagnostic skills; excellent oral, written, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong consultative and diagnostic skills, excellent analytical, planning and problem solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and learning technology platforms.
  • Excellent training delivery and facilitation skills and experience with all leadership levels is a must.
  • Positive contributor and a strong commitment to quality are essential.
  • Knowledge of industry best business practices.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask and work effectively in a matrix organization is a critical component.
  • Must be a genuine team leader with a collaborative style.
  • Outstanding communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to build value-added relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Workday Learning (LMS), e-learning tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
