Overview

The Payroll Analyst is a part of Milton CAT's people-first Human Resources team, acting as the lead payroll contact across 6 northeast states in a mixed union/non-union environment. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies. This position will analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies and collaborate with Human Resources and Finance departments to resolve any payroll issues as needed. Our Payroll Analyst also maintains electronic payroll records, creates and distributes various reports, and ensures an efficient payroll process that complies with all federal and state regulations. As needed, this position will assist in payroll related projects to improve the overall payroll function.

Responsibilities
    Overseeing payroll processing to guarantee the accurate and timely handling of hourly and salaried pay, bonuses, taxes, and other transactions
  • Managing updates to payroll records for new hires, terminations, and pay rate adjustments.
  • Maintaining precise payroll records and generating relevant reports.
  • Collaborating with accounting for issuing physical checks in case of payroll discrepancies or final discharge.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and industry best practices.
  • Managing state withholding and unemployment accounts
  • Documenting payroll procedures and processes for reference.
  • Fulfilling Verification of Employment requests.
  • Providing assistance across all HR departmental functions on projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years prior experience in multi-state payroll environment
  • High school/GED required - additional education preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function for exempt and non-exempt roles; experience with unions and prevailing wage desired
  • Understanding of HR & payroll wage and hour laws, tax laws, wage garnishments, payroll variances, W-4s and all other pertinent information
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; comfortable with deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll-related laws and regulations
  • Adaptable to a fast-changing work environment while able to work well under stress and tight deadlines.
  • Strong technical ability in Microsoft Office functions; Experience with UKG payroll and HRIS system strongly preferred.
