About this job:

The VP of Demand Planning is responsible for leading the collection of data, production forecasts, resource planning and procurement processes. The position will be responsible for implementing data tracking processes and resource planning tools to optimize production efficiency, resource deployment and company profitability. The VP of Demand Planning will be responsible for leading and executing demand planning strategies to optimize inventory levels, enhance forecast accuracy, and drive overall operational efficiency. This critical role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of demand forecasting methodologies, market trends, and supply chain dynamics. The ideal candidate will have deep understanding of national cannabis markets and operations, and will possess exceptional leadership skills, a proven track record of driving results in demand planning, and the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.

Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop and Implement Demand Planning Strategies: Formulate and implement comprehensive demand planning tools aligned with business objectives, budgets, and market dynamics. Continuously evaluate and refine forecasting models to improve accuracy and responsiveness to changes in demand patterns.
  • Lead the Implementation of Data Systems and Resource Planning Tools: Lead the data collection and reporting processes for the operations department. Collaborate with the Finance and IT teams to improve and implement tools and resources. Drive data systems utilization, governance, forecasting and reporting for Operations.
  • Lead Demand Forecast Processes: Oversee the demand forecasting process from data collection and analysis to demand consensus meetings. Collaborate with sales, marketing, finance, and operations teams to gather inputs and insights for accurate demand forecasting. Foster collaboration and communication across departments to ensure alignment of demand planning efforts with operations sales, marketing, production, and procurement activities.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Optimization: Drive initiatives to optimize inventory levels while balancing PAR levels and cost considerations. Develop inventory management strategies to minimize stockouts, excess inventory, and obsolescence. Lead the efforts to reduce cost/waste in supply chain.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track demand planning performance. Regularly monitor forecast accuracy, COGs, inventory turns, production levels, and other relevant metrics. Generate reports and provide insights to senior management for informed decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in operations through data insights and regular reporting on key initiatives to enhance demand planning processes, systems, tools, and capabilities. Stay informed of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and market trends to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Provide strong leadership and direction to the demand planning team. Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build a high-performing and engaged workforce. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.

General

  • Regulations require that incumbent be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain state marijuana work credentials - applicable marijuana licensing regulations may disqualify individuals with certain criminal convictions.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, operations research, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain management roles, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated expertise in demand forecasting methodologies, statistical modeling, and demand planning systems (e.g., ERP, Advanced Planning Systems).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and derive actionable insights. Experience with analytical tools (such as Power BI) and ability to create accurate reporting systems and drive continuous data-driven improvement.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven senior leadership experience, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on driving continuous improvement and delivering measurable business outcomes.

Technological Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, and Power BI
  • Experience in seed-to-sale tracking software required
  • Experience in inventory data base system required
