Nature & scope

The Reflections Director is responsible to assist in the implementation of Reflections program in its entirety and management of the overall operation of the Reflections neighborhood in accordance with the handbook, resident needs, government regulations and Meridian policies and procedures. The Reflections Director model's validation, encourages independence, capitalizes on resident's abilities, and helps residents feel safe and purposeful. The Reflections Program Director maintains excellent programming and services, high occupancy and meets Community financial goals.

Essential functions

  • Assist with training and model Reflections Program.
  • Implement the Reflections program.
  • Participate in marketing the assisted living neighborhood to referral sources.
  • Model validation/cuing techniques while assisting/caring for residents.
  • Assure and conduct a seven-day a week activity program based on the activity minimum standards while delivering care and facilitating events.
  • Assist in completion and information distribution of Life Stories
  • Assist with training of department heads and care partners in Reflections program per direction of ED.
  • Monthly ongoing training according to monthly training schedule per direction of ED.
  • Ensure sound infection control practices are in place that promotes a healthy environment.
  • Maintain life engagement supplies and follow established purchasing protocols.
  • Ensure that resident care is provided in a safe and effective manner, while consistently maintaining resident dignity, choice, privacy and respect.
  • Operate department within established budgetary guidelines.
  • Able to recognize escalating behaviors and intervene in a safe productive manner.
  • Assure reporting of safety issues to the DOW and ED.
  • Regularly assists with unit safety checks of the alarm systems and securing of unit doors.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Planning/conducting activities

  • Works with the ED in the development and implementation of activity programs based on the family interview, memorable experience profile and on-going assessment of resident needs.
  • Create the monthly and daily Reflections calendars in accordance with the minimum standards.
  • Coordinate dining/hydration/activities program with the Dining Services Director.
  • Internal and external event planning to promote Reflections.

Joint decisions & duties between Wellness Director and Executive Director:

  • Compliance with all appropriate regulations.
  • Interview per instruction of ED make hiring recommendations and orient new staff.
  • Full implementation of Reflections program
  • Involvement of care partners in Reflections programming.
  • Provide performance feedback for evaluations.
  • Participation in daily standup meetings.

Customer service

  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees are providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform job duties for residents and with team members in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Take initiative to ensure resident safety and satisfaction is a priority.
  • Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (Visitors include anyone who visits the community; specifically, current residents' families and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors and regulators).
  • Answer phones appropriately, according to company and community standards.
  • Communicate professionally and cooperate with supervisor and all community personnel.
Qualifications
Minimum eligibility requirements
  • BA/BS degree in related field preferred and/or 2-3 years' experience in a Memory Care setting.
  • 2 - 3 years or more in the care of senior adults and adults with cognitive decline is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and desire to serve residents and families of the memory care neighborhood.
  • Ability to work within an environment that supports the goals set forth in the Program.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to coordinate care across disciplines (including, Nursing, activities, dining services, etc.)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, community and State officials and general public.
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the cognitively impaired elderly.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member as well as an individual.
  • Must be honest, fair, dependable, respect confidentiality and the rights and privacy of others.
  • Practice and promote Meridian Policies and Procedures, Mission Statement, Core Values and Founding Principles.
  • Previous supervisory and/or management experience in a related healthcare setting.
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills and ability to re-prioritize daily tasks in order to accommodate fluctuating needs of the resident and community.
  • Must have experience in training and staff development.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Must meet all health requirements.
  • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (essential job functions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
