*** A cover letter is required at point of application*** The Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time Clinical Research Manager I in the Neuroscience of Risk and Development (NeRD) Laboratory at Boston Children's Hospital. The NeRD lab uses a developmental framework to identify risk markers for, and biological mechanisms that underlie severe psychiatric disorders. We are seeking a Clinical Research Manager I to manage and coordinate daily operations of multiple NIH-funded studies that focus on these goals. The Clinical Research Manger will develop and oversee the implementation of best practice guidelines for conducting various clinical research protocols, collaborate with the Principal Investigator for management of research studies, manage and train the activities of research staff, prepare and monitor regulatory documents, and ensure compliance with hospital and governmental regulations. Our goal is to find an individual interested in a long-term position in the NeRD lab who comes with five or more years of experience in research study design, management, and coordination.

The Clinical Research Manager I will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage the work of multiple clinical research studies focused on low-field MRI, sleep physiology, other sleep signatures and mental health outcomes.
  • Collaborate and consult with investigators and their staff on the design, development, and conduct of clinical research studies and on clinical research best practices.
  • Work with study investigators and statisticians to plan analyses, clean and verify data and facilitate preparation of datasets for analyses.
  • Collaborate directly with investigators and staff on developing and writing grants and study protocols.
  • Develop curriculum, conduct lectures, and direct courses as part of educational efforts to train study staff in clinical research regulations and best practices.
  • Lead design and development of data collection measures. Monitor data entry and study data collection compliance.
  • Manage and prepare documentation for review boards and ensure protocol compliance during ongoing projects.
  • Ensure that research activities completed by study staff are performed in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and program standards. Ensures work is performed in conformance with established hospital, program, federal, and state policies and procedures.
  • Conduct literature research to support publication efforts.
  • Contribute to manuscripts for publication and funding applications.

In order to qualify you must have:

  • Hold a Bachelor Degree and 6 years of work experience or a Master's degree or higher (e.g., Ph.D.) in a social science or health-related discipline and 4 years of work experience with psychiatry research, including multiple years of leading research coordination or management efforts
  • Have experience with common research-related software packages, including citation management software and document preparation tools
  • Have experience with prioritizing among multiple tasks and adapting flexibly to changing situational demands
  • Have experience supervising research study staff
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Have well-developed communication skills in order to provide critical information to study participants and research staff, effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, and the mediate fair solutions
  • Have advanced writing skills
