GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Research Technician I completes tasks to support the research endeavors of the laboratory. Performs or assists in experiments for research projects under supervision of the project head and the PI of the laboratory. This includes conducting cell culture experiments and molecular biology techniques as well as collection of and accurate recording of procedures and results, maintenance of databases used in the lab, ordering necessary reagents to conduct experiments, and participation in joint upkeep of the lab. Provides assistance to other laboratory members in areas such as cell viability assays, biomaterials for microfabrication and tissue engineering, and biopreservation experiments. Provides help with several administrative tasks such as transmittal of periodic forms for incoming and outgoing personnel, ordering of Core facility supplies, maintenance and monitoring of core facility equipment, and picking up mail and other periodically distributed items from MGH main campus.
Our work, in general, is focused on the development of cryopreservation technologies for cells and whole organisms including Drosophila. Our research relies heavily on cell culture, microfluidic fabrication, biochemistry, imaging and data analysis in a fast-paced research environment. We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic and self-driven candidates who would like to grow in an academic environment.
