SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER
(Park Steward Program)
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & PARKS
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for Seasonal Maintenance Workers for the Parks Division within the Department of Public Works and Parks. Under the direction of the Seasonal Maintenance Director, the position will maintain the City of Worcester Parks and Facilities and perform routine manual maintenance operations including, but not limited to; green space maintenance, event operations, painting, trash removal, facility maintenance and other work as assigned. All work is performed outdoors, in all types of weather conditions and in accordance with the City of Worcester standard Park/ Cemetery maintenance practices and procedures.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

  • Perform general landscaping duties and assist with special events
  • Removal of trash and rubbish from assigned areas
  • Perform manual labor with hand tools
  • Assist in record keeping
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform manual tasks requiring some physical exertion
  • Ability to accept supervision/guidance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work twenty-five (25) hours per week

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with hand tools
  • Basic landscaping and custodial skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified American Red Cross First-Aid & CPR/AED
  • Valid Driver's License

SALARY: $15.00 per hour, seasonal, non-benefitted
