Description

Field Engineering Services, a division of The RISE Group Inc is seeking a highly skilled individual to fill our Welder position based out of our Cranston, RI location. As a Welder, you will perform all kinds of welding, brazing and soldering to pressure vessels, piping, structural steel and industrial equipment in shop and field environments. Additional tasks include: demolition, mechanical, mill wright and rigging.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives instruction, prints and work orders for the job.
  • Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning and welding and forming various metals. Repairs equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles and tack weld parts.
  • Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
  • Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Field and shop weld demo and installation repair all types of industrial equipment.
  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Cuts work piece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
  • Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.
  • Installs or repairs equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.
  • Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  • Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  • Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
  • Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to support the team.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous welding experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Able to hear and understand instructions in a shop environment and effectively communicate (verbal and written).
  • Safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Certifications are a plus!
