POSITION SUMMARY:

A career as an MRI Lead Technologist at Boston Medical Center is exciting for those who are passionate about health care, leading an amazing team and providing exceptional patient care. Under the supervision of the MRI Supervisor you will be an invaluable resource for the MRI team. You will help in the coordination and prioritization of patient flow through a very busy MRI department. You will oversee and train staff to perform a full range of MRI procedures as well as help coordinate training and development, keeping them advised of technological changes. The Lead MRI technologist is an integral part of the team suggesting changes in procedures, policies and quality improvement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

MRI

  • Maintains the clinical protocols to the highest quality and assists in making changes when necessary. Assists in research protocol development and training.
  • Assists in the implementation and ongoing utilization of MRI safety program, maintaining compliance logs for equipment as required by ACR.
  • Interacts collaboratively with all departments, units and key stakeholders to coordinate patient care with the utmost safety.
  • Oversees daily workflow, work assignments and breaks for staff. Participates in orientation and training of new staff.
  • Updates imaging guidelines and disseminates protocol changes to staff.

Patient care and safety

  • Monitor department for adherence to proper policies, procedures and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Maintains and protects all safety Zones within the MRI suite to ensure staff and patient safety.
  • Provides expertise in decision making, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Acts as a point of contact and resource for hospital staff, physicians, patients and their families.

Administrative

  • Assists with interviews, onboarding and training of new staff.
  • Provides input for annual performance reviews and evaluations.
  • Monitors equipment and contacts service when needed.
  • Assists the MRI Supervisor to ensure staff compliance with ACR and ARRT regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • BLS/CPR certified
  • Current ARRT certification and registration in MRI
  • Fluency in multiple-vendor software is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable about the risks of MRI and the ability to effectively communicate those risks.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent technical skills.
  • Two to four years of MRI work experience preferred
