Job Details:

Reporting to the ACNO of the Center for Nursing Excellence (COE), the Data EPIC Analyst will be responsible for supporting the COE and Nursing performance improvement and nursing practice/operational analytics to amplify strategies and initiatives for the nursing department across the continuum. The analyst will have background within EPIC analytics and data extraction and will proactively be involved in management of project data, systems infrastructure and metrics. Other responsibilities include working closely with the Nurse Executive Team to provide accurate data tracking, administrative oversight of data, business management, and quality improvement projects to enhance nursing excellence at Tufts Medical Center.

Job Qualifications:
  1. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for the successful management of EPIC strategic nursing data dashboards as assigned within the COE and the Nursing service.
  • Provide project management support and reports to the COE team.
  • Focuses on data-driven nursing priority initiatives, strategies and future projections, and areas of potential improvement.
  • Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports for nursing.
  • Presents and interprets data, identifies alternatives, and makes justifiable recommendations on data revisions.
  • Responsible for conducting internal audits, identifying areas of process improvement, and centralizing processes aimed at optimizing nursing practice and workflow.
  • Collaborates with the nurse executives and teams on the development, communication, and implementation of process improvement.
  • Ensures quality and process improvement programs are data-driven and translates data-driven insights from the EPIC system into clear priorities and interventions for decisions.
  • Leads ad hoc consulting and process improvement initiatives on an as needed basis.
  • Facilitates the prioritization and completion of projects with internal stakeholders.
  • Provides consulting and analytic services to nursing leadership.
  • Analyzes data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques.
  • Assists in developing data quality measures, analyzes data quality results and implements necessary changes to ensure data quality improvement.
  • Interprets data results, patterns and trends to identify differences in data.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interprofessional team and the ability to adequately represent needs of the nursing services.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of healthcare delivery, clinical operations, hospital operations, and human resources policies and procedures.
  • Displays outstanding interpersonal relationship and communication skills; ability to mentor, guide and motivate through demonstration of best practices and leading by example.
  • Demonstrates initiative and leadership qualities. Mature judgment and a high level of motivation and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and pursue multiple tasks in tandem.
  • Demonstrates highly proficient within computer skills, tools, Microsoft Office programs, spreadsheets and presentation applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and SQL Databases
  • Knowledge of Epic systems.
  1. EDUCATION:
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Certification in Lean highly recommended
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience.
  1. EXPERIENCE:
  • Requires a minimum of 2-5 years in a hospital or healthcare setting with prior experience of healthcare operations and/or practice management experience.
  • 5 plus years of experience in data analyses or related experience, including proficiency in analytical software.
  • Demonstrates proficiency within Microsoft Word, Excel (pivot tables, graphs, formulas), Access, PowerPoint.
  • One or more years of experience with T-SQL (Microsoft SQL Server)/ Power BI and others in a healthcare setting
